Anything but ordinary!
Full disclosure: I am grateful for all the agencies out there taking care of the high-volume AI-automated jobs.
That way, clients can place all the large-scale multilingual translation work with them and come to professionals like me for all their out-of-the-ordinary translation needs.
What’s that? What kind of “out-of-the-ordinary”?
I promised in one of my recent posts on LinkedIn that I would present examples of the work that I do and that even the most advanced tech tools and automated processes cannot replace.
Certainly not with so much dedication to nuance and detail. The human professional experience and empathy.
Because sometimes that’s exactly what clients need.
Nimbleness and creative problem-solving and partners that go above and beyond to create something out of the ordinary.
Recent examples include:
- Handwritten 19th century Norwegian memoirs: I deciphered and translated handwritten memoirs into German. The handwriting was challenging, and the antiquated language had caused previous translators to give up. I enjoyed the challenge and not only translated but also weaved in anecdotal information on local traditions, customs, and history. I even recorded a short audio of a passage so my client got a feel for what his great-grandmother’s voice in Norwegian could have sounded like. He was immensely grateful. These memoirs were part of his personal history, his roots, and now all of that had come to life, reflecting the joyful and spirited mind that his “oldemor” had put to paper. (The book can be ordered here).
- A rhymed children’s book: I recently took on a fully rhymed English/Spanish children’s book related to climate change, polar bear cubs, and melting poles, transcreating all the verses poetically and for a young audience into German. In addition to linguistic and research skills, this project also required a high degree of empathetic creativity to reflect the warmth and spirit of the original while crafting new rhymes in German, something no AI could achieve. Apart from the fact that the author explicitly prohibited the use of AI, which, of course, I honored. (The book is available on amazon).
Additionally, if you have projects like:
- High-visibility marketing and PR pieces (including talking strategy, my pet peeve!)
- Research-intensive opinion pieces
- No-bullshit thought leadership articles (count on me to get your points across!)
- Market research projects (I used to work in the field and it’s a science of its own)
- Letters and other texts of personal value (empathy is my middle name!)
- Transcreation of fiction and non-fiction books
- Anything that translation agencies and AI tools can’t handle.
I’ll be happy to help. Because automated processes will likely not go far on those.
And the best: My fees are very reasonable.
So, if you have a translation project that defies the ordinary, let’s have a chat. I’d love to show you how my passionate, personalized approach can bring your words to life in German — from Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, or English. For your personal use or for the people you want to connect with.
